FIXTURE SELECTION GUIDE

Battery pixel bar or wireless uplight?

Both formats remove a power cable from the fixture position, but they shape the room differently. Choose according to the surface, effect, programming and transport plan.

The practical difference

A compact uplight produces a concentrated pool of light from one position. A pixel bar spreads several controlled sources along a line. The pixel bar can cover a wider scenic detail, create segmented colour or become a visible effect; the uplight is usually easier to place in repeated positions around a room.

Best starting questionDo you need linear coverage or a programmed pixel effect?Do you need many repeated points of colour?

Choose a battery pixel bar when

The surface is wide or linearA bar can distribute colour along scenic flats, stage edges, entrance structures or a section of wall.

Pixel effects are part of the designSeparate pixels allow gradients, chases and movement without a motorized fixture.

The fixture may be visibleA straight row of lenses can become part of the scenic composition instead of being hidden.

Aiming flexibility mattersAn adjustable bracket helps direct the output toward walls, scenery or architectural details.

Choose compact uplights when

Compact uplights are often the practical choice for repeated colour around a ballroom, reception space or venue perimeter. They are easy to distribute at regular intervals, but fleet planning should still cover charge time, case capacity, wireless addressing and the output required at the chosen spacing.

Compare the full operating system

The fixture is only one part of a rental package. Check the charging workflow, flight case, wireless DMX compatibility, lens or frost options, DMX mode and how the units are identified in storage. A lower channel mode may be useful for simple room colour; pixel control is more suitable when the console programmer needs individual segments.
